Nan & Vera

I was given this scanned small image (74kb) with the comment "See what you can do with that" so i tried.

The original image was small and grainy with some very obvious damage, and although the restored image is a lot better, it still looks a little grainy, but then again i did'nt want to make this photo look too polished as it is 40 years old.

If i had a larger scan of this image, i think more could be done with it, but i think its come out reasonably well.

Live It

I've been asked how i did this, for those who want to know, follow this tutorial. The font i used is different to the one in the tutorial as i couldnt find swis721, so i guessed this font was close enough.

Telford - HDR

I took these pictures of the Iron Bridge and a Statue in Telford and and used a HDR plugin within Photoshop.

Twins

This picture is of me and my brother Jason, it was taken a few years ago and has suffered a little over time.

I started by adjusting the colours using a levels adjustment layer to remove the red colour cast. I then removed the damage done by the tape using the clone and healing brush which took a bit of time especially on the shirts.

I replaced the background with a new layer, and reduced the opacity so the original background could show through slightly to allow for the photographers shadows and a bit of detail to come through.

I also adjusted the tone & colours of the eyes, lips, teeth aswell as healing varous other imperfections.

Poleroid

This is my Poleroid montage.

If you want to know how i did this, then follow this link, as it would take a little while to explain.

Mustang Sally

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

I firstly converted the image to black and white, and used a layer mask to allow the colour of the car to show through.

I then applied a glowing edge filter, before applying a black layer, masking out the car again to get the black border.

Iron Bridge - Telford

I took these pictures last year and then gave them the aged look in photoshop.

3 Generations

Just messing about with this one. I added a black & white adjustment layer with a hint of sepia, followed by a gaussian blur and a glowing edge filter.

I then masked out the image of my son to bring him forward.

Steve Dean

This restoration took a couple of hours. I had to remove the cracks using the healing brush, before removing the red colour cast with a levels adjustment layer and then adjusting the tone with a black & white adjustment layer.

Finally, selecting and masking out the face so it did'nt become too dark.
